If you are Paraguayan, have contracted a marriage abroad and wish to homologate it in the country, below I will tell you what to do.
Remember that this step is necessary before you can apply for your cédula as a married woman and later, your spouse can obtain the Paraguayan cédula.
What is needed?
- Marriage Certificate legalized by the Paraguayan consulate in the country of origin (for countries subscribed to the Hague Convention, only the apostille stamp is required).
- Legalization of the marriage certificate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay (only if it bears the seal of the Paraguayan consulate of the country of origin).
- Translation (if necessary)
- Photocopy of civil identity card of the contracting parties
- Certificate of life and residence of one of the contracting parties
- Nota dirigida al director del Registro Civil de las Personas solicitando la inscripción.

There is no specific format, it is a simple note addressed to the Director of the Civil Registry of persons requesting the registration of the marriage, attaching the certificate of life and residence of both, the original apostilled marriage certificate and copies of the identity documents of both.

If possible, if you have not opted for Argentine nationality you can renew your cédula as married, but first you must register your marriage at the Civil Registry of Persons, for this you must bring your marriage certificate apostilled.
