What are the requirements to obtain the Paraguayan Identity Card for foreigners with Permanent Residence?

  • Original Certificate of Permanent Residence in Paraguay.
  • Authenticated photocopy of the Birth Certificate, endorsed by the Paraguayan Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Original updated Criminal Record Certificate from the country of origin, endorsed by the Paraguayan Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Photocopy authenticated by Notary Public of the valid Identity Card of the country of origin (Identity Card for Mercosur countries).
  • Marriage, divorce or death certificate (as the case may be) stamped by the Paraguayan Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Original of the certificate of life and residence issued by the jurisdictional police station of your domicile.
  • Original of the Criminal Record Report issued by the Interpol Department.
  • Original Certificate of Background to Foreigners.

To be taken into account

  • If the documents were issued by countries subscribed to the Hague Convention, it will not be necessary to have them legalized by the Paraguayan Consulate; the stamp of the apostille will suffice.
  • All documents that are not written in Spanish must be translated by a certified public translator, except those documents that are in Portuguese.
