What are the requirements for renewing a Paraguayan ID card?

To renew a Paraguayan Civil Identity Card for foreign nationals, the applicant must submit the following documents:

  • A photocopy of an expired civil identity card.
  • A photocopy of the permanent admission card.
  • A photocopy of a valid identification document from the country of origin (passport for countries that are not members of Mercosur).
  • Original certificate of life and residence, legalized by the Department of Personnel and the National Police Headquarters.
  • Original copy of the criminal record report issued by the Interpol Department, certified by the Personnel Department and the National Police Headquarters.
  • Original copy of the police background check certificate.

Comments

  • If there is a change in marital status, please submit the relevant documentation.
  • All photocopies must be on uncut sheets and certified by a notary public.
  • Original documents must be presented for verification.

Identity cards can only be picked up by the cardholder or an authorized representative after an average of 30 days.
